jer 29:11

For I know the plans i have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

For we are righteous by faith. Its not by our works or the time we spent serving God. Yet it is through our faith and by his grace. This means that even though you have walked away from him before its not too late to come back. you dun hafto carry the guilt with you if you believe that it has already been paid for on the cross. But of cos i'm not preaching the cheap grace message, but yet its like learning how to swim.... you may not have swam for a long time now..but if someone throws you into the pool one day... you'll nv forget how to swim. likewise wen it comes to coming back into the presence of God... its not like you have to start all over again. He's waiting for you! He's not like your long lost childhood frens who if you meet on the streets again one day may have some awkwardness or feel that you cant "click" anymore cos ppl change over time.... but fact is, he hasnt left you. Instead, he has placed ppl in your life to represent him in flesh.
