Hebrews 4:7 (New International Version)
"Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts."a]" style="font-size: 0.75em; line-height: 0.5em; ">[a]
10 For forty years I was angry with that generation;
I said, "They are a people whose hearts go astray,
and they have not known my ways."
11 So I declared on oath in my anger,
"They shall never enter my rest."
Hebrews 4:6-7 (New International Version)
6It still remains that some will enter that rest, and those who formerly had the gospel preached to them did not go in, because of their disobedience.
* note the word "Today"- God set a certain day calling it "Today"
7Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, as was said before:
"Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts."a]" style="font-size: 0.75em; line-height: 0.5em; ">[a]
If Today, God is calling out to you, trying to get your attention, and if you harden your heart, push it aside for "later", then you are falling into the same act of disobedience.
Hebrews 4:10-11 (New International Version)
10for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. 11Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (New International Version)
3For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
