Sustain-ability

During cellgroup we talked about being a good finisher of the race...something that God has been impressing in my heart recently...

The difference between a sprint and a marathon... is you need to know how to pace yourself during a marathon... you cant just chiong all the way because you'll burn out very quickly that way and you probably end up giving up.

But yet in life you probably see a lot of people who fail to finish what they start...
Or perhaps you see people who started out strong and seem to have all the potential...but during the process they gradually lag behind because of fatigue, frustration, failure or fear...

What then, is the key to sustainability?

It burdens me to see people around me including myself, to have the passion and fire initially.... but also very quickly lose it or perhaps allow it to die out. I know we all cant be at our peaks all the time... but theres a difference between

And....

hahaa... ideally... we should all hope our lives follow the cycle of ups and downs as in the first graph....

The second graph shows how some people can get very high and fall rock bottom within a week. Unstable. One day you are proclaiming how you want to live your life as a better person and the next you start going back to the old ways.

How then, did Jesus not burn out even tho he was so busy serving every day?? One of the things that struck me recently was... Jesus is 100% man (HUMAN) when he was on Earth. ALL the power that he had, came from the holy spirit.
And that is why he can be a perfect living example for us. If he had even 1% of the power he had as God when he descended from the heavens to Earth, he will not be able to be an example already.

As I was sharing with val during bs, that when it comes to serving... there will definitely be times when you want to withdraw...because it can get tiring sometimes

But the truth is, Jesus himself often withdrew into the wilderness..to a quiet place.. where he can just commune and receive from God. He gets away from the crowd and does what he likes to do. Time to self. Feed your soul. Feed your spirit. Then, you can feed others.

Same logic as "I'm blessed, to be a blessing to others"

Just as every marathon runner will replenish the loss of water from his body to prevent dehydration, we need to 'replenish' our energy in order to sustain the long distance
