This weekend has been crazy. Crazily busy and crazily fun! A glimpse of heaven really.
Friday evening headed down to SIS (Singapore Indoor Stadium) for FOP and was wowed by Reuben Morgan and the Hillsong team...( haha! essy.. i din have to fly to Australia to see them luh) and I must say that the Parachute Band was better than what I expected! A simple message, but a word in season! Pastor Mark Conner shared about the kind of atmosphere that we should build and influence in our church and marketplace(i.e. circle of friends). In the book of Acts, the bible talked about the church and how it was growing in numbers, revival broke out, thousands were added, people were blessed and yes it is a picture of a healthy growing church. People were just drawn to the church! But you would realize that the focus was not on the methods, or the programs, it din talk about the type of music either, but the focus was on the atmosphere that the people built in the church! It really ties in with what we are talking about lately in our cellgroup meetings... about building the right atmosphere of peace, encouragement and comfort.
One thing that he said that struck me was...
The people knew to live in the fear of the Lord. Not fear "fear" but fear as in reverence, respect, and in awe.
If you live life every moment with the awareness that God is there... Notice how your life will change. Your conversations, the way you carry yourself, the things that you do...
The illustration he gives is that of a driver on the road... the moment we see a traffic police car nearby... we naturally start to slow down... check the speed.. check the seat belt...
But we all know that the traffic police means us no harm! its for our own good... our own safety!
Truth is, obedience is the ultimate act of worship. We don't need to know more, we need to do more!
And the best illustration of the night...
Imagine you're a father asking your son to clear the rubbish.
Does it matter if your son tells you " Hey dad! you're right! that sounds great! preach it to me! You know what, its so good, i'm even going to write it down... no.. wait.. i'm going to write a song about it!"
Helloooo! it is not going to make a difference! As the Dad, the only thing you're concern about is whether your son has actually done it! Who cares if he writes a song or write it down on his notebook to take out the rubbish...
haha sounds familiar doesnt it?
Anyway, after FOP, we headed down to the chalet at ECP to celebrate Jo's birthday. haha thanks to the great company, we din sleep AT ALL that night! and sadly.. I realise I din take any peektures!! ahhhh. Think I lost quite alot of my image tho... bahh... nearing the end of the night I was making alot of noise...screaming and talking very loudly...unlike the initial part where I was still reserved, shy, quiet... >.< Although we cant see any sunrise by the beach...it was still pretty amazing that Jo's thanksgiving speech could last till the breaking of dawn. Went to bedok market to eat breakfast and straight home to SLEEP!

Saturday: It was a struggle to wake up in the afternoon and I felt like not going to fop (oops!)..just thinking of all my work that has been piling up (deadline on TUESDAY!!!)... glad I made the right choice tho... Thanks to HB! you were my motivation to come luh. haaha...I really enjoy praising and worshiping God with you! and double thanks for sending me home!! What can I say... God was speaking to me thru Pastor Mark... the things he shared... haha was so similar to my previous posts (i.e. whatever has been going on in my life the past week)...about the discipline of the mind... You cant control the thoughts that come to your mind, but you can choose to do the right thing to them. All those negative thoughts and emotions... why replay them?? (And we tend to do it with high definition and surround sound some more!) It is a conscientious choice we make to not let the devil have a stronghold in our minds. Key word: Personal responsibility. What you have control over, is what you have responsibility for. So much I learned! So much to share! but so little time!
Sunday: Well they say the best is always the last. and it was!! Okay but I wasnt even intending to go at all in the first place! Plan was to stay home and chiong my projects and individual assignments! I even turned down moolah making opportunities luh...cos I was feeling so stressed up... I know I have to stay home today >.<
haha but I really really really wanted weijie to go for at least one of the sessions cos I know he's going to be so blessed by it.... so yes... last min, we decided to go together :)
haha its been quite some time since we last went to church together and it was fun! haha in fact its the first time I'm seeing him since he came back from taiwan!
Shall share more tomorrow!
Time to zzzzz...its 5am
