John Bevere certainly leaves a mark each time he comes to chc to preach. First, it was the series on "Drawing Near" which made me bought my first christian book with my own money..haha in fact, i haven bought another book for myself since then.
This time round he spoke out of his new book, 'driven by eternity'
That night, I stayed over at ade's and we really had a heart to heart talk about our calling and life.
If you know that what you do today will determine how you spend the next ten million years of your life, how will you live? Nothing you do can make God love you more or love you less than he already does. But what you do, can determine how please he is with you.
The reason why I'm writing this down now is because I do not want to forget. Most of the time the things we preach are really meant for ourselves. Just that when we actually say it out, it is reinforced into our brain and we remember it better.
How then do we know whats our calling? our purpose on earth?
Just as the great men in the bible, david and joseph, God gave them a glimpse of their future, a vision.
I'm sure many of us do have such glimpse...but it takes faith to actually believe that we are capable of doing it...
Many a times, during a great meeting or service, where faith abounds and there is a strong move of God, we are suddenly geared up.. we lift our hands, we want to take the world for God, and we see ourselves doing great things..standing before people, leading worship, preaching, excelling in our workplace and sharing our testimony..
but when the meeting ends... we're like an inflated balloon that just got pop by a needle. We forget about what we saw and deem it as a figment of our imagination, impossible in our near future.
We return to our ordinary lives, rushing projects and get all beaten up by the busyness of life.
The 3 things that John Bevere shared on how to know our calling:
1) Ask God earnestly for it...
I must admit, I havent exactly done that... at least not earnestly, persistently
2) Stay planted in the house of God
3) Do not get entangled:
By fear, by relationships, by busyness, or anything that affects our priority
I really feel that a gathering of believers should not be a mere pity party where we compare and complain about how busy our week has been all the time. I'm not saying wear a mask, but coming to a place of edification, encouragement, is a place where energy abounds and laughters are infectious. I'm really proud of elicia and val, because even tho they are both tired or may be pms-ing the previous night but they still come with great smiles, always ready to spread the loveeee :) Its a positive energy!
instead of wearing a frown all the time and making a happy person like me not so happy anymore, the reciprocation of a smile, a genuine interest in each other's life causes an energy surge that refreshes rather than wear us out.
But I still think no one does this better than zoe! Despite the things that are happening in her own life, she is still as calm and cool, ready to listen to our rantings and sharing in our joy! But yet at the same time, our friendship is not a one way traffic, because she does share with us her problems, and I am really thankful for that. Not thankful that she has problems but the fact that we are able to be vulnerable in front of each other and not having to fear that its going to change our perspectives of each other. Kudos to zoe for successfully being a leader and friend to us!
spread the love yo'
